Akla – Terms & Conditions for Chefs

1. Introduction

Welcome to Akla, a digital platform that connects talented home chefs across Egypt with customers who love authentic, homemade food.
By registering and selling your dishes on Akla, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before offering any products through our platform.


2. Nature of Our Partnership

Akla provides a marketing, ordering, and delivery platform only.
We do not employ, supervise, or directly manage chefs. You act as an independent seller, responsible for your own food production and compliance with local laws.

Our role is to:

  • Promote your dishes and chef profile to customers

  • Facilitate online ordering and secure payment

  • Handle logistics and delivery from your kitchen to the customer

Akla does not cook, prepare, or package food. You, the chef, are fully responsible for all aspects of food quality, hygiene, and safety.


3. Chef Responsibilities

As a registered chef on Akla, you agree to:

  • Prepare all food in a clean and hygienic environment, following safe food-handling practices

  • Use fresh and safe ingredients suitable for human consumption

  • Accurately describe your dishes, including ingredients, portion size, and allergens

  • Comply with local food preparation laws or health regulations

  • Deliver the food at the agreed time and temperature for safe consumption

You also agree not to:

  • Misrepresent your dishes or use misleading photos

  • Resell commercially packaged or factory-made food as “homemade”

  • Include prohibited or illegal ingredients

  • Engage in any conduct that could harm the reputation of Akla or its users


4. Food Quality & Liability

Each chef is individually liable for the food they produce and sell through Akla.
Akla will not be held legally responsible for:

  • Food poisoning, allergic reactions, or contamination

  • Incorrect labeling or undeclared ingredients

  • Any damage, illness, or loss resulting from your food

If a customer raises a food safety issue, Akla may temporarily suspend your account while investigating the matter.
You may also be required to provide proof of ingredient sources, hygiene standards, or other relevant information.


5. Orders, Payments & Delivery

  • Orders are received via the Akla platform.

  • You must confirm order acceptance promptly and prepare the meal within the stated time.

  • Akla will handle payment collection and delivery through its approved partners.

  • Your earnings will be transferred to your registered account after 3 working days, minus platform fees 15%.

Delays or repeated cancellations may lead to temporary suspension or removal from the platform.


6. Refunds & Cancellations

If a customer reports an issue with an order (e.g., missing item, poor quality, incorrect dish), Akla reserves the right to:

  • Refund the customer, and

  • Deduct the amount from your balance, if the issue is verified as your responsibility.

Refunds or compensations are handled case-by-case to maintain fairness for both chefs and customers.


7. Chef Conduct & Compliance

All chefs on Akla are expected to maintain professionalism and integrity.
You agree to:

  • Communicate respectfully with customers and Akla support

  • Follow all instructions regarding packaging, pickup, and delivery

  • Not engage in off-platform sales with Akla customers for orders discovered through Akla

Violation of these rules may result in account suspension or permanent removal.


8. Taxes & Legal Responsibility

You acknowledge that you operate as an independent business or individual seller.
You are solely responsible for:

  • Declaring your income and paying applicable taxes

  • Obtaining any required local permits or licenses

Akla is not responsible for your tax or regulatory compliance.


9. Updates to Terms

Akla may modify these Terms & Conditions at any time to improve the service, meet legal requirements, or ensure food safety.
You will be notified of any updates, and your continued use of the platform indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
